From the desk of its new President, former New York City public advocate and mayoral candidate Mark Green, today comes an announcement that the beleaguered progressive talk-radio network, Air America Radio, has been granted a new lease on life, despite its recent financial troubles and the departure of its marquee host, Al Franken. Courtesy of recovering conservative Arianna Huffington, and her blog, the Huffington Post, as well as e-mail blasts to registered listeners and members of MoveOn.org and other like-minded groups, the news went out to millions fearful that the avalanche of right-wing noise on radio and TV would no longer have a countervailing force. Green's brother Steve, a business magnate with a proven record of success, has bought the network and its properties and promises to make it both "profitable and influential." A new mix of programs and hosts is promised, as well as a re-commitment to putting AAR material out in alternate channels such as the Web, blogs, mobile phones etc. Your Humble Correspondent, for one, is very pleased and relieved. Now listen already!
