Am I the only one bothered by people who write or say, "x-year anniversary"? (As in: "2007 marks the one-year anniversary of the event.") Yo, morons! "Anniversary" means "yearly occurrence"! The proper syntax is "first anniversary," "20th anniversary" or "125th anniversary," not "one-year" or "20-year" or "125-year anniversary"! I get this even from people who supposedly have a firm command of the English language. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Many more peeves to be listed.

Two [far too often] recurring favorites:

use of "myself" when it should be "me" and

loss of -er, for example people saying "more likely" instead of "likelier" or "more kind" instead of "kinder."
