On the State of the Union...and the speech on same

I did not pay much attention to Junior Bush's penultimate State of the Union address last night; the only speech I have any interest at all in hearing from him contains one or both of two phrases: "I hereby resign the office of President of the United States" or "I am ordering all U.S. troops home from Iraq immediately." (Of course, there is about as much chance of either phrase ever coming out of his mouth as there is of my showing up in a chicken suit atop the Capitol dome.)

For those who did watch, how well do you think it went? BusinessWeek Online has an article titled "Salesman-in-Chief" looking at the speech from the perspective of a CEO trying to sell stockholders and others on a new business plan. Personally, I think the only good thing in it was when he expressed pleasure at being the first President able to open the SOTU with "Madame Speaker." Otherwise, he amply demonstrated yet again that he feels absolutely no obligation whatsodamnever to those his office is meant to represent, i.e., the People--you remember, the ones who told him overwhelmingly last fall, through Congressional elections, to stop sending our soldiers to die someplace they had no business being to begin with and bring them home right frakking NOW?--or to anyone save his party leaders and their big campaign donors.
