My beloved Songbird,
singing_phoenix, is home resting after spending the better part of the day seeing doctors, getting poked, prodded, x-rayed, exsanguinated, drugged and schlepped from one Kaiser Permanente facility to another, and me losing the same amount of the day from work (and income, as I am paid hourly) driving her thereto and from. The illness some of my readers will have noted her suffering at GAFilk last weekend got worse on Tuesday, with a high fever (the third in about a month), lots of coughing and retching, dehydration resultant therefrom, weakness and inability to take in much in the way of nourishment or fluid.
Happily, our fears that she might have tuberculosis, pneumonia or some such have been allayed; her KP doctor thinks she just has a particularly nasty case of bronchitis. Drugs and bed rest have been prescribed...and I suspect I shall have to be more strict about seeing that she stays in bed sufficiently to fight this thing off than we have been in recent weeks, what with holidays, conventions and one thing and another. We hope she will be fully recovered (and no longer coughing her lungs out all day long) by this time next week.
Just as well, I suppose, that her plans to attend Arisia this weekend were kiboshed by expenses from last weekend and necessary preparations for her move to Kenya (which will now be pushed back weeks, if not months, anyhow due to snags in the transfer process, more about which I will let her tell you if she chooses and when she feels better). Prayers, GoodThoughts™ and other various positive energies are welcomed, and phone calls are too so long as they are kept short and during the hours of 9:00 AM -10:00 PM Eastern.
