Krugman nails it on US healthcare
Jan. 3rd, 2007 08:25 pmPaul Krugman, one of my favorite liberal columnists, writes in a New York Times op-ed published in my local paper today about what we can (and should) expect from the incoming Congress in the way of reform for the US health care system, which has to make us the nation that spends the most on this and gets the least. His original column is only accessible on the NYT website if you pay for a subscription, but a slightly abridged version can be read for free here. Read it and pray that Pelosi & Co. don't stop at fixing the Medicare Rx-drug benefit.

Date: 2007-01-04 03:37 am (UTC)I run into this all the time. I have railed against it in a number of settings. You get nowhere trying to appease the incumbents at the get go. Yo do much better taking the bull by the horns and only engaging in pragmatic compromise to close a deal that advances the cause.
