thatcrazycajunIt is with great sadness that I must report, for those few who may not have heard yet, that legendary film/TV actor and artist Tony Curtis was taken from us at age 85 by cardiac arrest at his home near Las Vegas, NV two days ago. Entertainment Weekly's website reports the story here.
Had he done nothing but marry Janet Leigh and give the world a daughter named Jamie Lee, every bit as as gorgeous and gifted as her parents, his passing would be worth noting. But over 60 films (including the iconic classics Spartacus and Some Like It Hot), at least one TV series starring role plus numerous others, and God now only knows how many paintings attest to a life and talents that will be sorely missed.
Heartfelt sympathies to his surviving wives and children, and all the family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Curtis. And eternal shame on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for never awarding this man a richly deserved Oscar® for his work while he lived.
