The Songbird and I failed to plan far enough in advance to make a trip to Conterpoint this weekend financially doable, and last-minute booking would have made it prohibitively expensive and logistically complicated. (Apparently the only way airlines will give you the lowest fare on this trip so late in the game is if you're willing to go in via one airport and out via another. When the con hotel itself is a half-hour drive from either one, this presents very costly problems.) A damn shame; happens it's the 20th-anniversary weekend of the very first East Coast Filk Con series of which this one is part...and at the time, I was living in the Northeast and present at the creation.

So we're forced to give it a miss. Anyone else not going? Or there already and want to say hi? At least let me know what's happening and who actually showed up.

We had to give it a miss, but only because we did a con last weekend. Still, it's the first time we have missed the NEFilk con in seven years.

I'm staying home, though Rob opted to go as his birthday present. (resources were a bit thin all around for us to both go!)

I'm missing it too. As well as Midwestcon in Cincinnati, Origins in Columbus, and Comfest in Columbus.

Most SF cons are a luxury I can no longer afford.

[livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and I are both missing; I had thought to go to DuckCon where she was recently but missed out...

But I get to ride and to go to a BBQ with my motorcycle folk, among other things.
