Summer SF Movies: Moon

With thanks to Lewis from the Atlanta Science Fiction Society for passing along the link: Sam Rockwell, last seen by genre fans as Zaphod Beeblebrox in the feature-film version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, stars in a new film very reminiscent in premise of Silent Running, due out next weekend: Moon. The lone staff member of a near-future lunar mining installation finds something that convinces him that either he's gone off the deep end after three years of solitude at the edge of outer space...or he's at the center of a truly bizarre occurrence. Looks good, but of course the proof is in the watching.

There's a theme taking over. Last night, Fox started a series about a first manned interstellar spacecraft whose progress is being covered like a reality TV series. They use an interactive VR system that's supposed to keep them sane, but there's a bad guy who's shown up in everybody's virtual adventures causing harm. What's worse is that the first episode starts almost exactly the way my screenplay "Tijuana Smalls" does. They're right, there are no new ideas out there.

Sounds interesting..... I am not sure if I will see it in the theatres or not. (Not likely due to ticket prices.)

Sounds interesting. I love "Silent Running," so this may be right up my alley.
