Ping sodyera: Go see Battle for Terra RFN. No, seriously

The designs of the airships and homes the Terrians have in this movie remind me so much of Abby's artwork it's not even funny. The 3-D is inferior to the system used for Monsters Vs. Aliens, at least for those of us needing to wear our own eyeglasses under the 3-D specs provided—and they don't even let you walk back out of the auditorium to grab popcorn with them.† But the story and the graphics are much better than the RottenTomatoes.com folks seem to think, and the message is (sadly) still needful and powerful.

I give it two thumbs up. Go see it while you can; it's liable to be gone far faster than Star Trek or X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is why I went to see this today instead of the latter. I plan to catch the clawed Canuck later in the week, before the Songbird arrives for her semi-annual visit home this Friday, so we can compare notes...and I expect we'll see Abrams' flick together when she gets here.

†So help me Orson Welles, an attendant actually chased me down demanding I return them until I came back with my snacks! And they make you turn them in on the way out afterward, too. Better for the environment than dumping barrels of plastic to be recycled, perhaps...but still a tad intrusive.

I saw so little of the commercial trailers that I was going to pass on the movie. I suppose now I'll have to see it at some time.
