Just curious: after so many years being involved in this thing we all call "filk," I seem to have acquired quite a back catalog...and a number of songs and/or parodies that people have told me they loved, sang themselves at cons or other events where I was not present (which I mind not the least little tiny bit!) or found themselves weeping over.
So...what's your favorite song of mine, original or filk? Post the answer here, please. The results may be used to assemble something I never in a kajillion years thought I'd live to make: a "Greatest Hits" compilation.

However, I think Simple Country Doctor remains the favourite.

STAR ROLE, or WE ARE SOOOOOO SCREWED...
Music: "Starsoul" by Jodi Krangle ©1997 / New Lyrics: Matt G. Leger
Inspired by the DreamWorks SKG motion picture Galaxy Quest and written from the POV of Jason Nesmith, AKA Capt. Peter Quincy Taggart
The ship is untried, and you say we can't fly;
The chances are good we'll be blown from the sky.
She was based on a model of plastic, not steel,
But some-how these aliens have made her real!
Chorus I / So show us the enemy, give us the ship,
God only knows why we're making this trip.
You say we're just actors, forgotten and old,
But our greatest adventure has yet to unfold!
Our new friends so trusting, some would say naïve,
But all those old broadcasts they really believe;
Their faith is so strong -- how can we let them down?
We're all that they've got; no one else is around!
Repeat Chorus I
It's been eighteen years, and I've gotten a gut;
Now there's no stunt double, no one to yell "Cut!"
Gwen, Tommy and Fred, even Guy -- they're all here,
And Dane is still bitching for his lost career.
Repeat Chorus I
So here we all are, set to fight for our lives
With no script to tell us who dies or survives.
Can we be true saviors? At least we can try,
With "Never surrender!" as our battle cry.
Chorus II: / And we faced the enemy, we flew the ship;
God only knows how we lived through that trip.
We left has-been actors, came back heroes bold --
And our greatest adventures have yet to unfold!

Date: 2009-04-24 11:50 pm (UTC)I have one song that is probably my most-requested and least favorite. Do you have a song everyone else seems to like that you're totally sick of? If the answer is yes, it isn't absolutely required to tell us which song it is.

But seriously, I've frequently covered both "Evil Is A Four-Letter Word, Too" and "Agent of the MIB" in open filk. I've also always had a soft spot for "Everyday Hero", even though I haven't seen a single minute of Early Edition. (Uh-oh...another DVD for the Netflix list...)

Neither of which I do to the tune YOU composed, since I haven't heard you do either of them often enough to learn your tunes.
