Since once again this year I am stuck hundreds of miles away while my home city parties, I thought I'd see what the rest of you are doing for Fat Tuesday 2009. What's your day like?
Current Mood:frustrated
Current Music:"Go to the Mardi Gras," Professor Longhair
You probably already have this version (The Grateful Dead with the Neville Brothers, 1987-12-31), but since it's the best version I have, I thought I'd pass it along. Enjoy!
I gave up Lent for Lent many moons ago, and I haven't been able to find it again.... now, if I get lucky, I may have some other reason to celebrate, but I'm not counting eggs here; they may be full of sulfur dioxide instead of down.
right now, and when I get home, I'll take it easy. One of these years, I may try experiencing Mardi Gras (even though I did see an actual parade for it once, in Mobile, Alabama).
I'm working on a volunteer project, doing good by doing well.
Would love to be in New Orleans (or in the Caribbean, where I am given to understand there's a party or two today, as well :-) but that'd mean ditching the family, which is as Right Out as Five.
If Safeway has King Cakes when I go there later I'll buy one. We're thinking of going to NO and the Gulf Coast for spring break. If we do, I'll give it your regards!
Went parading around Marigny and parts of the Quarter with a couple of the marching groups here. Took in lots of weird and wonderful costumes, but I did get a little claustrophobic in places where the crowd got too thick.
I had to keep a close eye on froggy because I was so afraid we'd get separated. Stupid me forgot my phone back at froggy's place (and left its charger at home...scatterbrained me.). Fortunately, I was able to find him and get on with Mardi Gras.
