NEW FILK PARODY fresh from GAFilk 2009
Jan. 12th, 2009 05:39 pmGAFilk 11 passed into history late last night with a yummy rib dinner with
osewalrus and his family (being kosher, they had salad and were kindly tolerant of their carnivorous old goy friend) and a truly off-the-hook Dead Dog Filk featuring Juanita Coulson singing a bawdy tune about an incident in ancient Alexandria, Egypt being acted out by
bedlamhouse and
billroper, complete with togas. Pictures will be up shortly, so as to forestall any denials on their part.
In other news, the Songbird is as of this evening safely back in Nairobi, Kenya, having flown out on KLM yesterday afternoon about 3:30P Atlanta time. She sends thanks for the kindnesses of all whom she saw at the con, apologies to any she didn't get to chat with and hugs to any who didn't get one from one of us.
Over the last couple of days shuttling back and forth between the con hotel, the apartment and the airport with the Songbird, I came up with this from an old Nineties tune that has been stuck in my head since it was overplayed daily on the radio while I was living in NYC.
FILK TONIGHT
Music: "Save Tonight" by Eagle Eye Cherry
Parody Lyrics: Matt G. Leger
At the con, day is ending
Parties go 'til after three
As for us, we've our own thing
Time to sit and play and sing
Sunday comes, we're going away
And how I wish, I wish it weren't so
Take this Tully and drink with me
Let's hold off mundanity
Chorus: [2x]
Filk tonight 'til the break of dawn
Come tomorrow, we will all be gone
There's a song that needs singing
And it's written by me and you
Hotel staff comes with one desire
To chase us away, it's true
How I hate to say goodbye
Pack and go, home to drive or fly
But I know we've got to go
Ghu, I wish it wasn't so
Repeat Chorus 2x
Monday comes, one more mundane day
Wish at the con we could all stay
But they're tearing down, you know
Hauling out the stuff to go
Repeat Chorus to fade
