Not so much as a single, solitary touchdown. Not. One. That's what the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets got when my alma mater came to Atlanta to play them tonight in what was once called the Peach Bowl. (I refuse to give its corporate sponsor any more publicity than the surfeit it already has; I don't like time-honored sporting events and venues selling their names and origins into history for the sake of bucks.) Our local paper reports the game results here.
And on that joyful note (for me and my fellow LSU alums/fans, anyhow), please allow me to be the first to wish you and yours a happy, safe, peaceful and prosperous New Year...unless you've got someone special with you who's already claimed that privilege. And I also offer this toast, as I do each year at this time:
To the new year: may it be better than the old. For some of us, that won't take terribly much.

Date: 2009-01-01 06:17 am (UTC)The Georgia Tech Band was ready, and unhesitating.
Ten-HUT! LEEEEFT FACE! (They're now facing the visitors' section.)
THAT'S ALL RIGHT!
THAT'S OK!
YOU'RE GONNA WORK FOR US SOMEDAY!
OTOH, it's no shame for Tech (these days) to lose to someone from the Southeastern Conference.... in football. Basketball is another matter entirely. :)
And yes, to 2009. May It Not Suck.
