In far happier news...
Dec. 18th, 2008 10:00 pmThe Songbird called me this afternoon from Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi to inform me she was boarding her flight to Amsterdam, which connects to another for Atlanta early tomorrow morning. She is winging her way home to me as we type; I pick her up at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport here at 3 PM tomorrow.
I expect she will spend most of the first evening after her arrival crashed out from exhaustion due to the long trip and a week of hellish work difficulties. The penultimate episode of Stargate: Atlantis airing on Sci Fi tomorrow at 9 will likely end up getting taped for us to watch later.
She can be reached through my landline number (we're in the book) or through e-mail and our respective LJ pages. She will be staying through GAFilk weekend, as previously reported here. The bad news: She has to leave the Sunday afternoon of the convention, and will require time before that for last-minute checks and so forth, so we'll end up missing what programming there is that day prior to the Dead Dog Filk. (We do expect to participate fully Friday and Saturday.) There will also be a drive out of town next week to visit relatives for the Christmas holiday, and a requirement that she spend at least some weekday time at CDC's Atlanta offices actually working. Beyond that, some small amount of socialization may—I emphasize, may—be possible subject to her needs and level of energy. No promises to anybody; please don't take it personally as it is not meant so.
But for now, she is on the way and our home will be complete again for the next three weeks. My holiday season is more joyous already.
