Found in the [livejournal.com profile] startrek community and too hilarious not to share, if only for the obvious uniform glitches and badly-translated English: a Turkish production company's attempt at replicating the original Star Trek TV series, down to the uniforms, sets, characters and even story elements. (They apparently managed to find a local actor who resembled Shatner in his prime to play Kirk, but the others didn't fare as well.)

"Probably, you forgot that such an illogical emotion does not exist on us." —Mr. Spock

How long ago was this made, I wonder? And why hasn't CBS/Paramount sicced its hot 'n' juicy IP lawyers on them yet? Or did they already and we're just seeing the escaped footage? As the real Spock would have dryly said, "Fascinating."

Given the amount of work, and the fact that they kept original soundtrack but used new scripts, it may be that they licensed it from Paramount. Licensing for foreign production is not unheard of.

Does it make me a geek if I recognize the episode they're doing as "Man Trap"?
