...weeks before our first President in two terms and the new Congress have even been sworn in:
Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich Arrested for "Selling" Obama's Senate Seat, Among Other Charges
Memo to the (soon to be ex-)governor: YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!! Democrats are supposed to be ending corruption in government, not committing it! Especially prominent, nationally known ones...and even more especially, ones anywhere near the President-elect in geography or politics. Have you even the vaguest notion of how much ammunition you've just given the other side? Now they can say, "See? SEE?! Republicans aren't the only ones! And what if Obama is connected to this in some way?" Was your greed and opportunism blinding you so badly you couldn't see how not only ethically wrong but colossally stupid this was?

Roderick, my man, you apparently lack ethics as well as timing...because in both cases, yours bites, and royally.

The stupidest thing he did is continue to talk, on his office and home phones (wiretapped by the feds, of course) BLATANTLY about all these things, explicitly soliciting money and saying what he'd give ... three years after he first found out he was under investigation for corruption.

... What? At least get a disposable cellie, Blago -- make some effort!

Throw him under the bus. The Democrats in the Illinois statehouse should act immediately to impeach for breach of public trust. Let it be known that we will no longer tolerate this crap - if our better angels ever did.

Rotten is rotten, it doesn't matter which side he plays for. Be glad he was caught.

To Paraphrase

Yeah, as a Chicagoan born and bred, that was my reaction, too.

Mind you, I do think we need to clean house here, and quickly.

Calm down...

Ok... I'd like to chime in here as a member of "the other side".
First of all, Blagojevich's arrest doesn't give us any ammunition. No one party has the corner on corruption, ok? As a rule, the party in favor tends to get arrested more, but usually it's because they're in power and have more favors to dispense, that's all. The not-so-good governor's abuse of power does not, should not excuse or lessen the crime of the other party's criminals.

Also, I refuse to give in to the "they're all crooks, so what?" mentality. Rats like this should be hunted down and thrown in jail with a vengence. And no, I dont care if the criminal in question is Republican or Democrat.

Lastly... and this is hard for partisans to swallow....these are the acts of individuals... greedy, corrupt individuals, NOT parties!! Look at the long list of corrupt politicians that have been caught and you'll find both parties well represented. I didn't vote for Obama, but he's my president now and I just hope to God he's the real deal and truly means what he says about ending corruption (not that you can ever totally end it)...

The indictment should include at least one count of aggravated stupidity.
