[1] Who was your FIRST prom date?
Just so happens, it was
mshollie. We went to my senior prom (no junior prom at our school) and then a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. One of my fondest memories (and not just because of the Frank N. Furter undergarments she wore to surprise me).
[2] Do you still talk to your FIRST love?
Sadly, no; she was a teenage girl I knew in 7th grade. I did find her phone number a few years ago; if it is the same person and not another with a similar name, she still lives in my home town of Lafayette, LA. Maybe one of these years I'll work up the nerve to call her and apologize for dumping her because the idiot boys at school were teasing me about her.
[3] What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
Most probably Miller High Life beer, which my father used to drink quite often and let us boys have the occasional swig.
[4] What was your FIRST job?
Ice-cream scooper at a Baskin-Robbins shop in Lafayette during junior high school, part-time.
[5] What was your FIRST car?
An avocado-green 1978 Dodge Dart bought off my then-girlfriend's uncle for $300 in 1988. I called it the "Mean Green Mother." It died a spectacular death when a friend of mine tried to jump-start it and mis-connected the cables, causing the engine to catch fire.
[6] Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
Nobody; haven't had a text message today.
[7] Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
singing_phoenix, AKA my Songbird.
[8] Who was your FIRST grade teacher?
A heavyset, middle-aged lady with pale skin and very black hair named Mrs. Alsandor (don't recall her first name). Probably dead by now, poor old gal.
[9] Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
From Lafayette to New Orleans in a small Cessna four-seater belonging to my late mother's then-boyfriend. As if that hadn't made the day exciting enough, it was capped with a trip to the Audubon Zoo, back when they had those telephones in front of the cages that you could pick up to hear recorded information about the animals in each cage.
[10] Who was your FIRST best friend and are you still friends with them?
A little girl named Theresa Boatner, when we lived in the Broadmoor subdivision in Lafayette and were in first grade together. Sadly, I haven't heard from or of her since then.
[11] What was your FIRST sport played?
Unless kindergarten dodgeball counts, probably Little League-style baseball in sixth grade.
[12] Where was your FIRST sleep over?
Don't remember now, but there must have been one.
[13] Who was the FIRST person you talked to today?
The fellow behind the counter at the convenience store where I got some milk and orange juice on the way to work.
[14] Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?
My late mother's second wedding was the first I recall attending. if you mean actually being "in" the wedding party, that would have been my pal Bob and Andrea George of New Orleans in my junior year in college, in whose wedding I ushered.
[15] What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?
Look at the alarm clock and yelp, "Holy crap! 7:25?! I have half an hour to get to work!"
[16] What was the FIRST concert you ever went to?
Barry Manilow at an off-campus arena in Baton Rouge, LA while attending LSU. We camped out for tickets.
[17] FIRST tattoo or piercing?
Neither; aside from pierced earlobes for earrings, I regard both as defacement.
[18] FIRST foreign country you went to for vacation?
France, followed by Switzerland, then Austria, all in the same trip, March 1978. I was 14 going on 20.
[19] What was your FIRST run in with the law?
I snuck a taste from a bottle of Mogen David in a supermarket out of curiosity and had a sheriff's deputy corner me in front of my dad. I was 11 or so and curious. He let me off with a warning.
[20] When was your FIRST detention?
Detention?! I was a geek; I never got detention.
[21] What was the FIRST state you lived in?
The state of my birth, Louisiana.
[22] Who was the FIRST person to break your heart?
I prefer not to remember the heartbreaks.
[23] Who was your FIRST roommate?
My little brother Doug. (We shared a bedroom until mid-high school.)
[24] Where did you go on your FIRST limo ride?
Don't think I've had one. (Hey, Hollie, did we have a limo that night or not?)
[25] Who will be the FIRST to repost this?
How in the %$#@! should I know?!?
