Boston Legal's newest little(!!) hottie

thatcrazycajunCan I just say how much I'm enjoying the new season of Boston Legal? (For those who haven't seen it, it's ABC's outrageous new legal dramedy airing Tuesdays at 10 PM Eastern.) Especially with the talented and attractive Meredith Eaton playing the role of, erm, vertically challenged attorney Bethany Horowitz. She showed up a couple weeks ago as Denny Crane's latest Internet blind date, with predictable results for anyone who knows the character (as Emmy-winningly limned by William Shatner): he was at first shocked to find that she was "a midget" (his words) and dismissed her; she promptly sued him and he settled by agreeing to help her with a tough court case. Now he's actually become interested romantically in "the Badger" (her nickname around the Boston federal courthouse) and has, against all odds, persuaded her to give him a chance as a steady boyfriend. (She warns him that he will have to "seriously clean up [his] act" and quit "throwing [his] penis around like it's going out of style." Knowing Denny and his raging Clintonesque libido, this will be a task to make Hercules' famous 12 Labors look like a day at the beach.)
It doesn't hurt that, with the current major-murder-case A storyline, the show has no less than four Star Trek veterans on hand: René Auberjonois, Armin Shimerman, Ethan Phillips and Shatner. (René and Armin got to do their first one-on-one scene together since their DS9 days in last week's ep.) And James Spader just gets better and better as, shall we say, "quirky" lawyer Alan Shore. Between this show and Grey's Anatomy (also on ABC, Thursdays at 9 PM ET), we have a hospital and a law firm that would, in the real world, both be facing numerous lawsuits, disbarments, license-to-practice revocations and federal prosecutions for the way their personnel behave, and would probably get shut down by court order PDQ.
But gods above and below, they're awfully fun to watch.
