Hilarious "Field Guide to Animal Bands"
May. 31st, 2008 06:18 pmHave you realized how many rock/pop/alternative bands there are out there whose names involve members of the animal kingdom in some way? Neither did I, until I happened upon this feature in a recent issue of Paste magazine:
The Paste Faunomusicological Society's Field Guide to Animal Bands
It's a hoot even if you've never heard any music from most of the bands in question, especially the faux-Latin taxonomy reminiscent of old Warner Bros. Road Runner cartoons (Modest Mouse, for example, is listed as "Notindius anymorus"). And of course, being a graphics geek, I noticed the gorgeous artwork and neo-retro type and layout design. My only quibble: they left out Counting Crows...
