Wikipedia actually has a page on him (no pun intended) here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Studds). It says his scandal broke in 1983. (And how about that unfortunate surname?)

I don't find it weird at all, knowing Bozell and his type. When you're sinking fast, you grasp at anything you think will keep you afloat.
