[personal profile] joyeuse13 and her husband [profile] abovenyquist have a real good excuse for not being at FKO or anywhere else this weekend: they've been busy becoming first-time parents. Welcome to the world and happy zeroth birthday, Zachary Xavier Lanterman! 20 inches, 6 lbs. 14 oz. and his first-ever pictures are up already.
Warning! Extreme cuteness beyond this point. Not responsible for head explosion that may result.

Mother and newborn are both doing fine. Congratulations to the family and thanks for helping bring on the next generation of filkers.

OK, if nurture has *anything* to do with it, this kid is gonna be a Big Fat Geek... they've *just* got the kid settled and mom and dad are having a quiet smooch, and what's in the left of the frame already set up and booted? The freakin' LAPTOP....

Ah, well. We need more filkin' geeks. But, dude, that's HARDCORE.

The laptop was probably up and running before she even went into the delivery room, knowing Aaron. And on his LJ, he announces his son's birth as if it were a new computer software release: "Announcing Lanterman 2.0: ZXL. Release date: 4 April 2008."

Yep, between the genes and the parental habits/knowledge, I'd say geekdom is definitely in this kid's future.

Way back when my (now 22 years old) daughter arrived, the doctors anticipated some problems, and were concerned that I might object to being in the room with all the blinkin' lights and beeping gizmoes. I assured them that was my natural habitat. :)

(Wow, that WAS awhile ago - no laptops, no cell phones...)

No phone no lights no motor cars? :)

*nods* Actually, Tandy had the T-100, and you could have a beeper... and the truly affluent had phones in their cars, but really only in Hollywood...

But, yeah. My natural habitat, even then, and I was barely old enough to remember Apollo 11 sitting on the pad. (1986? oh, heck yeah. The machine room was my favorite place... it was loud but it was cool, both in the temperate sense and in the sense of being among all the *toys*... after midnight, the campus Xerox 9700 laser printer was my personal, private playtoy. Well, OK, I hadda share the queue, but as soon as my stuff got printed, I could hit the dump button and retrieve my English paper while it was still hot. *grin*)

No name given yet, but none of their choices can compete with Zachary Xavier...

Awwww... he cute!

Seems to be a lot of this going around - a couple in my church had twins recently, and the proud father was handing out pictures today with a grin bigger than he is on his face. Now to go put 'em up on the church webpage, heh heh...
