So...who else couldn't afford the money and/or time to be in Ontario or Stony Brook this weekend?

Date: 2008-04-05 06:48 pm (UTC)Instead, I'm home messing about with my AeroGarden, drying the herbs that are growing so fast I can't use them all at once... and putting the ones I've already dried into jars. (I don't use my dehydrator for this.)
Theoretically, I'm also supposed to be unpacking from MidSouthCon, and packing for Penguicon.
But mostly I'm drinking tea. There's always the drinking of fresh mint tea when I mess about with my plants. There's just so much mint! You want some?

Date: 2008-04-05 07:22 pm (UTC)I'd love basil too if you have it, dried or fresh. I have this wonderful recipe for pesto that calls for a lot of fresh basil. It makes a huge batch, but it's absolutely delicious.
Coincidentally, I'm also drinking tea -- not mint though.
Oh, was this supposed to be a pity party? Oops. Yeah, I'm not at either of those places either. I'm at home, after spending some time out in the lovely weather. Discovered a great wine shop, a fun bead shop (they actually have classes I want to take!), a chocolate shop, a hemp store (meh, not worth the drive), and now I'm about to get some work done that I had left over from the week. Oh, and

Date: 2008-04-05 09:37 pm (UTC)But now that the Arizona Ren Faire is over, it is nice to have a day just to play catch up. Taxes, bills, yardwork, and hopefully a bit of fun as well. A movie anyway. Last night we got to see Larry Warner and his wife Tisa because we babysat for their five year old son, Grayson. We introduced him to "Back to the Future." Grayson is a smart five year old. He really got into the whole time travel thing. It has been a good weekend so far, even if we can't be filking.

Date: 2008-04-06 04:12 am (UTC)I've been at a family thing today...my aunt from Texas is visiting my cousin in NJ, so my sister, her fiance and I headed out there. My cousin from New Hampshire showed up with her SO, and I found that one of my cousins and his wife have moved to Vermont. So now I have even more reasons to visit the Northeast. Also started making plans to visit my aunt in Texas sometime next winter/spring (depending on the schedule for the school year).
Sadly, tomorrow won't be quite as much fun. Have to deal with idiot roomie and something her mom is making her write about how she got into the financial mess she's in. Wish me luck on that.
Stuck Home Worrying
Date: 2008-04-06 03:21 pm (UTC)Early this mourning I did dream I was at a con, only it was CONTATA; the hotel had usurped our planned meeting space and left us with a little dining room on the top floor. Merav (our con-chair) was on the cell phone complaining to the management when her battery ran out. A hotel staffer loaned us a cell phone, but I pulled it out of her hand before it exploded. May this only be a dream.
