Thankful Thursday #2
Apr. 3rd, 2008 04:45 pmI am thankful this first Thursday of April, 2008 for the following:
- That I'm not flying Southwest Airlines anywhere, nor will I anytime soon. As this NPR story reveals, they'd rather maintain their profits than their planes...and passengers' safety (and whistle-blowing employees' livelihoods) be damned.
- That I work for a really great boss and supervisor. (Need some printing?)
- That my rent and water bills were paid in full and on time the day before yesterday. Now to see about the others...
- That my sweetie
singing_phoenix, traveling in Tanzania this week, was able to at least get away for awhile from the office in Nairobi to which a truly insane overload of work has largely confined her of late.
- That tomorrow is Friday and the weekend beckons. (I would be a lot more thankful for that if FilkOntario and I-Con weren't both happening this weekend...with half my f-list going to one or the other and me unable to afford either one.)
- That this weekend's edition of the annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival was able to find a new location after being kicked out of Piedmont Park. (City parks have been put off-limits to all large-crowd events until further notice due to drought conditions.) Though it does seem ironic that it's being held in an area where there's a lot more concrete and asphalt than grass or dogwood trees.

Date: 2008-04-03 11:20 pm (UTC)I am thankful that there was a moderately-priced London Broil at the Safeway, and that my
beef jerky machinedehydrator still works.I am thankful that I've just today gained some insight into some things that have been bothering me for well over 20 years.
I am also thankful for chocolate, but that's a given.

Date: 2008-04-04 03:44 am (UTC)You did a great job last year and I do appreciate it. I had a good time. (I understand now why you don't want to ever do it again. Besides, running a track from 300 miles away is VERY hard. )

Date: 2008-04-04 03:42 am (UTC)I-CON.... I am running filk there (Why do I keep hearing "A SMOF too Blue" going thru my head.....) Its going to be an interesting con...
I don't know who is running filk next year (Guest tentatively lined up), but I can make suggestions to I-CON and other cons who do ask me "Who would you recommend". I just had one of those tonight. :)
