For any who may have been worried, I am fine despite the tornado that touched down in the downtown Atlanta area last night. We still have a tornado warning in effect, but my apartment complex has not been damaged that I am aware, and we still have electrical power, water and phone service. I have heard from [profile] sffilk and he is all right as well. The meeting of the Middle-Earth Rocketry Club scheduled for tonight is going forward as planned. [personal profile] autographedcat and [personal profile] kitanzi live a good ways north of town and are likewise unaffected, although they are in the National Weather Service warning area, as we are.

Will keep you all posted as events warrant. That is all.
UPDATE, 3:38 PM EDT: [personal profile] weirdsister and [personal profile] mseuphrates have checked in and are fine. The latter also lives way north of the city proper, in Kennesaw.
UPDATE, 5:32 PM EDT: Check off [profile] wheezinggirl, [personal profile] joyeuse13 and [profile] oldfolkieathome as well; they have also posted "we're okay."
UPDATE, 10:14 PM EDT: Got an e-mail from [personal profile] filkferengi, so she's okay too. Anyhow, she and her hubby live way out in Conyers, so they are somewhat less likely to be in the path of danger.

Good news to hear.

I keep meaning to buy a NOAA weather radio because I've edited several stories about people getting enough warning from their radios to get to a safe place. Now that they're under $20, I'd be crazy not to get one.

Of course, Rush Limbaugh thinks that government programs don't help people so I must be hallucinating this.

I was racking my brains this morning, trying to remember which of my f-list I knew were in Atlanta.

Glad you're all ok.

Yay! Thanks for posting you're ok - I just got off the phone with a friend in Macon who didn't have any weather there (yet...) but who actually had relatives at the basketball game.

I'm doing OK. Just got a call from Dave Wegener, and he's asked for me to check and see if all are OK. I've put an e-mail out.

Glad to hear you're ok. I have been worried about how the storm affected friends of mine out there. I still need to hear from another one in the area.
Keep in contact.

So glad to read that you-all are okay.

I heard the incomplete snippet of news about Atlanta devastation, and immediately wondered if you were affected.

That's Con-ley, dear, not Con-yers. There's 90 degrees of circumference & 45 minutes of driving worth of difference. That, and we live in a mailing area, not a real city [no city taxes, yay!].

It's sweet of you to be concerned, though.

How's the music working out?
