GAFilk 10, Day 1 report

thatcrazycajunOpening ceremonies, fraught with tradition, pomp and champagne, were held on schedule last night, as was the "My Filk" game show to follow. filkertom performed a one-hour concert and kicked metric shitloads of ass, per usual. Then open filk happened in no less than three—count 'em, three—rooms, and I got to sing a song or two in each, and got applause despite my voice being ravaged by two months of bronchitis. Along about 2 AM mrgoodwraith and I packed it in and drove out to my apartment for sleep.(You can hear live Net streams of all the musical GAFilk craziness here, thanks to filkerdave, fleetfootmike and the filknews community.)
Today we got back to the hotel around 11:15 AM and had time to lounge about a bit before Super Secret Guest In Absentia Peter S. Beagle's concert started off the afternoon programming. Peter sings wonderful old-folkie-type stuff in a soft voice and quiet acoustic guitar accompaniment, and it was a good thing they had nice big loud speakers so this hard-of-hearing Cajun boy could pick up most of it clearly.
