To all my friends of the Hebraic persuasion, a very happy Chanukah. At this festive time of year, I am always reminded of Theodore Bikel's eloquent summation of most Jewish holidays: "Someone tried to kill us; they didn't succeed; let's eat!" And whatever holiday the rest of you observe, may the holiday season for you be filled with peace and joy...and may we one day real soon actually have "peace on Earth."

Bikel's summation is cute, but iirc it only covers Chanukah, Purim, and Passover--a fairly small proportion of Jewish holidays.
