With thanks to
dduane for the tip: This Wednesday, led by Irish professional writers, major cities all over the world will turn out their ink-stained masses for street demos and other events, to show solidarity with the Writers' Guild of America in its current strike against the TV networks, cable channels and production studios for a new contract guaranteeing more money on DVD releases of their work and royalties for new-media use, at present nonexistent. See call to action here.

Date: 2007-11-26 06:44 pm (UTC)I could wish for something to boycott, but I haven't watched WGA-produced stuff live in years... now, if the Beeb's writers go on strike in support, that I can get up in arms about, because I've been known to watch Who...
(That and I happen to know Joss wangled a good deal for the Firefly DVD's (learning from JMS' woes), so I had no problem buying those... OTOH, JMS didn't get a red cent for B5, so Warner can just dangle for that revenue... now, if the deal ends up being retroactive, I'll go out and buy it.)
