So, you thought the Roman Catholic Church in the US had finally gotten its act together with regard to sexually abusive priests in its ranks? Thought the cover-ups and the quiet relocations were finally at an end, and that any slimeball in a cassock who so much as laid a finger on any of the children in his care would be swiftly removed and punished? Thought the church's requirement of celibacy for priests wasn't an incubator for pedophilia after all?

Guess again.

And people wonder why I'm not a Christian! Most Christians don't act very Christian. I must mention my dear Methodist friend who is the most Christian person I know; I'll bet he'd whup the ass of any molesters in his church!

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

There are organizations out there that are very effective at policing their own (and getting the whole relationship thing right, for that matter). This... isn't one of them, nor is it likely to be for a very long time if ever. More's the pity....

The thing I don't get is the whole celibacy thing. I mean, if the original man, who was supposedly pure as the driven snow until the apple incident, couldn't hack it without a mate, why should a priest be expected to? Furthermore, where do they get off doing marriage counseling, something with which they by definition have no current experience?

Whole thing is FUBAR'ed, if you ask me.

Joshua ben Joseph was a Rabbi, and the Rebbetzin has a rather large role in the community. And a good Rabbi is just as good if not better at arguing the finer points of doctrine - far into the night - than anybody except maybe the Jesuits.

I've no idea why they (even the Jesuits) ignore this.... but they do.

It's not only the Catholics that do this terrible thing. Parents, agnostics (yes, I was a victim of one), teachers, NOT JUST CATHOLIC PRIESTS!

I am a recovering abuse victim. My abuser was my stepfather who is in his own words, agnostic. I don't care enough about the man to find out what that even means. Some of us don't even have to go out of our own homes to be victimized in this manner.

To blame this ALL on the Catholic priests is wrong!
