A truly evil idea: Your Rule 34 story
Sep. 13th, 2008 08:37 amThanks to
the_sheryl,
browngirl and
thnidu, yesterday I learned about Rule 34: "If you can imagine it, somewhere on the Internet there is porn about it." I had not previously known about this rule, but now that I do, the possibilities are simply mind-boggling. It started with Mark posting the following quote from
dsgood in his LJ:
A bit of googling turned up fan fiction about Ayn Rand; George Washington; and Margaret Thatcher. So far, none which has them in a threeway.
After spending half an hour trying desperately to remove that appalling image from my head, I had a truly Dr. Horrible-esque notion: Let's get the friends list together and really give people some brain-scrubbing to do. What's the wildest and most bizarre Rule 34 porn you can imagine—or have actually found? Post a brief description here. (Though you'll have to go some to top that threeway listed above.)

Ike slams into Texas
Sep. 13th, 2008 09:23 amMy thoughts and prayers are with all those in the state where I graduated high school (Nimitz High School, in the Dallas suburb of Irving, class of 1981) and spent at least half of my childhood, off and on. (Especially
starcat_jewel, who has been phone-posting about damage to her home over the past few hours.) Texas got a most unwelcome guest early this morning as the now-Category 2 storm Hurricane Ike made landfall at the coastal resort town of Galveston (where my folks and maternal grandparents used to take us when I was very young for beach vacations). The island is already flooded, and Houston to the north is experiencing high winds and rain, with CNN reporting debris and water in the streets. Electrical power is out for millions, with the utility companies saying it may be weeks before all customers have their service restored.
And I am suddenly very, very glad my widowed stepfather lives safely far to the north in the vicinity of Tyler. And while I do not wish this sort of ordeal on anyone, having lived through it a time or two in my youth, I am also glad Ike chose to bypass my home state just a few dozen miles to the east. If you live in the strike zone, please post and let us know you are safe.
