...thanks to the AT&T tech who finally got here at around 4 PM (after I had been given an appointment for 8 AM-12 PM), who was delayed due to overbooking of the tech staff in the morning. At last, I don't have to go out to Barnes & Noble or Starbucks anymore just to get on the Net. Turns out they were installing a new box nearby, ironically to improve service (faster data speeds and suchlike), and that was what cut off my service. The tech switched me to a different port, and all is dine and fandy now.

Now I just have to scrounge up some more RAM for the computers...

Got the DSL back on, and now I have successfully upgraded my laptop's RAM to its full capacity. A short trip to Fry's and about $90 got me 2 GB for the Dell. It does appear to be perceptibly faster in operation...and hopefully no more molasses-in-January "virtual memory too low" incidents will occur. Next week, we do the same for the Mac so I can finally install Illustrator CS3.
