"Romantic" vs. "thoughtful," or what women want from their men

One of my old favorite columnists I haven't read in a dog's age, Amy "The Advice Goddess" Alkon, has this column on her website, advicegoddess.com, which I came across on a mostly-Mac-tech blog called bynkii.com (oddly enough, while searching for some way to get Adobe Reader 8 onto my system without having to use Adobe's brain-dead download page that gives you an installer that won't run on Intel Macs...and not even for Reader itself, but for their frak-headed Download Manager—sorry, that's another rant, and he does it way better than I can anyhow).

Being one of those supposedly "Sensitive New-Age Guys" (hi, Christine!) who does clean and cook for his lady but has to be whopped over the head with a clue-by-four to remember buying cards and flowers and such, I identified quite strongly with the unfortunately ill-appreciated husband of "Missing That Special Something." But her letter to Amy did start me thinking about that whole Mars/Venus thing, as well as what is "romantic" (as women tend to define that word; we men, natch, have no clue) vs. what is "thoughtful" (as men and women define that word respectively). I thought it might be enlightening to solicit opinions of the intelligent and diverse readership I happily seem to enjoy. What's your take on the matter?
