In no particular order:
  • Singing this song in an open circle and having [info]telynor say afterward, "I'm never going to be able to look at you the same way again!" (The look on her face was priceless.)
  • Premiering "A Simple Country Doctor" cold, with next to no rehearsal, during Saturday afternoon one-shots at my very first OVFF and getting a standing ovation...and being approached all the rest of the weekend by people telling me how much they loved it. (Best reaction, from [info]wcg right after I sang it, in its entirety: "That was art.")
  • Winning the Pegasus three years later for the very same song...and having my sweet Songbird [profile] singing_phoenix be there with me to see me get it. And being allowed to thank all the people who supported me over the years (a few of whom were present in the room), even though the thanks ended up being longer than the song itself.
  • Performing in the Pegasus Nominees concert the night before winning, that same year.
  • Watching [profile] cacie walk by in a lingerie-based outfit that showed off quite a bit of her amazingly voluptuous figure (gad, where did that sweet little girl with the big voice I remember vanish to?) and saying, "Does your mother know you run around dressed like that?" (yeah, yeah, I know, total fogey) and hearing her say, with an ever-so-cheeky grin, "Who do you think made the outfit for me?"
  • Watching the Interfilk auction wenches (including [personal profile] catalana and [profile] kbeader) do the "we are not worthy" bows before winning bidders who'd just dropped several hundred dollars cash money to buy some seriously sinful chocolate something-or-other.
What's your favorite memory (or memories) from past years of OVFF?

I actually have no idea what OVFF is (sorry!) but I DO know the Da Vinci's Notebook tune. Did y'all do four-part harmony, or was it just you? In both cases, kudos on the singing... and the courage :-)

If you don't know what OVFF is, get thee at once to the official website (http://www.ovff.org) and find out. If you don't know what filk music is, a quick search on Google for the words "filk music" should give you enough sources for background. (Filk is kinda like Judaism; ask four filkers what it is, get six opinions.)

And for the record, it was just me; I only wish I'd had enough other guys there with me who knew the tune to do harmony!

I don't have any memories because I've never been to OVFF. I'm not a filker, actually.

Even if you're not a filker, you can still be a Listener, a role we revere at OVFF.

And then there are those, who once they listen, become motivated to become a musician of the filk variety.

I've only been to two, and don't have all your achievements!

Special memories:
- On my first night, the open filk circles seemed too large and intimidating to go anywhere near. A ConCom member opened a small room that was not being used, and three of us started to filk. Turned out a lot of other people wanted a small room too - it was very soon packed to the rafters (at least 13) and spilling out into the hall. [livejournal.com profile] pw11 sang for the first time at OVFF, after many trips down. A tall stranger smiled very, very encouragingly as I tried a song - it hit me only a little later that it was Barry Childs-Helton (and I learned he always encourages beginners, no matter how bad - he is great that way).

- Watching Seanan take off the lab coat in Maybe It's Crazy, as the first step in a number of clothing changes, madness and wonderful performances during her concert

- Going through Customs with Tanya when they asked if there were any celebrities in the car, and watching the expression when we tried to equate Fantasy Writer with celebrity

I sure hope to be back next year instead of reading about the Pegasus winners from afar!
