You'd need to cultivate pride, too, if you spent every waking moment being told by your culture and its laws, in a hundred different ways, that a very basic and unchangeable part of you—your sexuality—is shameful and disgusting. And that this part of you renders you unfit to be treated the same as those attracted to the opposite gender and only that gender.
Those who know me and mine should understand why I post this link.
