...my sweet Songbird's mother, Jane Mulholland, is undergoing angioplasty today up in New Jersey. She's pushing 70 and has one or two health problems already besides heart trouble, so Mary and I are both rather anxious for her to come through it okay and get better soon. Prayers and good thoughts sent her way will be deeply appreciated by the both of us.
UPDATE, Saturday 10/27, 12:39p: Got a text message from the Songbird early this AM; her mom is out of surgery and doing fine. Thanks on behalf of both of us to all who sent prayers and good thoughts.

I heard from my sister that Mom came through the procedure just fine, and was slated to go home last night. Apparently they did not need to insert the stent, so she should be fine. As of 10 pm last night, she was awake and alert, and happy to put this behind her.

I'm grateful for all the good thoughts, prayers, lit candles, etc. people have sent my family. Some of you may know that my father died within 2 days of what was to have been routine surgery while I was living in Australia. He was 61. My worst nightmare about taking this job was that something would happen to my Mom while I was away.

Fortunately, Mom is in much better health than my Dad had been; her only real health issue is RA (bad enough) and thyroid trouble. She's not quite 70 (she reaches that milestone on January 1st), and in good enough shape that she's sometimes mistaken for my older sister.

With luck, she'll be up and about real soon.

I just read Matt's post about your Mother, immediately followed by yours. I'm glad to hear she's doing well. I didn't realize she's so young. I'll pray for her continued smooth recovery. Cal and I plan to move quite a distance away before long - but with such dreams I also feel conflicted about not being nearer to my parents if an emergency should arise....and just to visit them as they are now 78 and 80 years old and Mom has had serious health issues the past couple of years.

Good News.

I know you've got tons of family up here, but if there's anything I can do (flowers, gingerbread cookies, a pint of good Irish whiskey sneaked past the guard nurses [shrug] well, you never know unless you ask) Don't hesitate day or night.

You know I mean it.
