How NOT to smuggle yourself into a country by air

Shouldn't this guy have, like, frozen to death up there in the jet stream with no protection? And shouldn't he have thought to bring some sort of breathing apparatus?

Where would he get one? Presumably (unless he did this as some kind of daredevil stunt) he couldn't afford a plane ticket, so he probably couldn't just buy one.

Why assume he did it either for the adrenaline or the savings? Maybe he's on a no-fly list and couldn't get where he wanted to go any other way. Or just plain didn't want certain people knowing he was coming, for terroristic or other reasons.

Maybe, but he certainly drew a lot more attention to himself this way. (Even if he didn't understand about the whole "the air up there is really cold and really thin" business, you think it would have occurred to him that an hour of hanging on for dear life wouldn't leave him in any shape to just jump off and sneak away.)
