The MacDailyNews site reports here that copies of the "Gold Master" version of Apple Inc.'s new release of the Mac OS, code-named "Leopard" (10.5), have started showing up on the BitTorrent peer-to-peer file-sharing network. "Gold Master" is the usual designation for the final, all-signed-off-on version of new or upgraded software that goes to the disc presser's for production. This would seem to indicate two things: (a) someone at the Cupertino, CA campus has smuggled it out (or an enterprising hacker type has found a way into Apple's presumably-secure servers); and (b) the actual announced release date will indeed be Oct. 26th, a week from this Friday, as has been reported in the online trade press. Stay tuned...
