Had my first-ever professional massage at the local outlet of Massage Envy last night. A very nice young African-American man interviewed me to find out what I needed, then gave me a full-body job with some oil that made me itch all over. Aside from the allergic(?) reaction, it went a long way toward restoring the mind and body functionality lost to Monday's frantic race to complete Operation Packout (AKA moving to the new apartment). Sadly, unless I buy a membership any further massages will cost half again as much, but until I get steady income nailed down, that will have to be a non-starter.
In other news, the folks at Aquent told me on Tuesday that The Home Depot's corporate office, where I interviewed for a contract position last week, is interested in bringing me on. Some logistical dancing about was needed to retrieve and fax back a signed form for the client to begin the process of arranging my computer and system login, since neither DSL nor fax service had as yet been restored in the new digs, but it finally got done. I am (hopefully) to start an at-least-six-month gig doing image processing and Web design work on the 16th.
Finally, today I spent the bulk of the day dans la maison, unpacking as many boxes as I felt up to doing and getting the place a shade more livable. Some repair work will still be needed to get the bed back together, but that is proceeding apace as I was able to snag some Plastic Wood® from my soon-to-be employer's Lindbergh Plaza store and found the wood glue I had already. I still need to get some more light into that dark-assed living/dining room, but a floor or hanging lamp should do the trick nicely.
Now I've had some early dinner and some good reading at the localfantrap Barnes & Noble, and the house has a few less boxes. Now I just need to get some of the Songbird's stuff shipped off to her, after doing an inventory of the boxes she left. My world is slowly getting less chaotic; now if only I could figure out why my laptop keeps jumping the damn text cursor one line up when I'm in the middle of typing...
