Song titles brought to you by the letter G
Aug. 4th, 2006 12:17 pmFrom Dave Weingart's (
filkerdave) page...
This is a twist on the Letter Meme. Instead of coming up with ten items for a certain letter, you come up with five song titles for a certain letter and explain why you picked them. If interested then leave a comment. I'll give you a letter. You post this blurb in your journal along with your list.
- "Gangsta Folk" by Pat Godwin from his CD "Under the Bed". Just because it's so damned funny. Two genres that should never, EVER have met...meet here.
- "Grandma vs. the Crusher" by the Rev. Billy C. Wirtz, from his CD "Songs of Faith and Inflammation." Funny and poignant at the same time. Makes me think of my own late grandmothers, both years gone now but to whom I was very close growing up.
- "Gett Off" by Prince, from his CD "The B-Sides." Down-and-dirty, danceable old-school funk...and I do mean "dirty." Because I know it would cheese off the religious right (and probably did).
- "Give It All You Got" by Chuck Mangione, from his album "Fun and Games." Because it has a chorus that makes me think of striving upward and being the best you can be. An overlooked gem.
- "Get Drunk with Dignity" by Tim Cavanaugh, from the Dr. Demento Basement Tapes #2 CD. Because it's sound advice for anyone of legal drinking age. Catch me in the right mood at a filk and I'll sing it for you (assuming
mrgoodwraith doesn't beat me to it).
And if you want a letter from me, you'll have to ask for it...

And if you want a B, it's yours...
Mister May I.....
Date: 2006-08-05 02:09 am (UTC)I followed your link from Filkerdave and found your entries to be interesting. I am unsure how others go about adding to their friends lists, but it seems a bit creepy to just add you without asking first.
so, May I add you to mind Friends list and enjoy your WIT regularly?
Thanks,
Baggette

I get HOW to add friends, I just have 'Netticette' issues.
I was raised in a VERY sheltered environment, Waaaaaaay before computers
became so ubiquitous.
I'm not shy, just hesitant to intrude on another's sense of space or self.
What lively discussions you host! I like that even dissenting opinions are not only heard, but welcome!
Best,
Baggette

Date: 2006-09-05 04:47 pm (UTC)Thank you very kindly. I try to be welcoming to dissenting opinions, though gods know it's hard sometimes; but it is a first principle of mine that the best answer to bad speech (or speech I don't like, which is not necessarily the same thing) is always more and better speech, not censorship.
