It's official: I'm hooked.
May. 2nd, 2007 01:43 amYou knew it would happen sooner or later... Yep, I wrote a Heroes filk. Original tune still in progress. The singer could be Hiro...or Peter...or Claire...or some other new character with powers who hasn't shown up onscreen yet. (My money's on Hiro; he's such a drama queen. [g])
MEMO TO SYLAR
Music and lyrics by Matt G. Leger
Inspired by the NBC Television series Heroes created by Tim Kring
You think no one sees you, so silently creeping,
That no one's aware of how dark is your soul;
The murders you've done as you laughed at their weeping,
Your sick, twisted pleasure at taking control.
Well, I'm one who sees you, and I'm not alone here—
I know who you are, I know what you desire;
I know that you want to see flesh burn off bone here
As millions are killed in a moment of fire.
So what can we do, I know you're surmising?
How can we prevent you from sounding that knell?
But we have some ways that you may find surprising
To keep you from dragging this city to hell.
For some of us fly, some stop time like water
And some can survive any threat you may bring;
We're going to stop you from this heinous slaughter,
And your only warning is this song I sing.
Chorus:
No matter the place, no matter the season,
God damn you, you bastard, you're not gonna win!
These powers were given to us for a reason—
To end your dark rampage ere it can begin.
Wherever you strike, I promise we'll be there—
Look over your shoulder and watch your damned back;
The last time you look, one of us will you see there
For we are your end...and that is a fact!
We none of us planned this or asked to be gifted,
Just plain ordinary, from all walks of life,
But somehow from out of the mass we were lifted,
Made able to stop fire or bullet or knife.
Why us, we all wondered, each in our own fashion—
What aim could God have to have made us this way?
Until we discovered your cruel, secret passion
And purpose was ours on that frightening day.
Some were reluctant, and some not believing,
But all came to realize what must be done,
And some you did find and have left loved ones grieving
Destroying the threat to your bloodthirsty fun.
Well, listen up, killer, and pay close attention
Your free days are numbered, your debt will be paid;
You'll luck out to finish your days in detention—
There won't be enough of you left for a mention—
You'll never fulfill your sadistic intentions;
When we find you first, in your grave you'll be laid!
Repeat Chorus
