I just checked my LJ calendar from December 2010 and found that I made no posts at all for the entire last half of the month, not even my usual traditional postings for the season (the "Wanted: Santa Claus" FBI warning and the Bill Murray Christmas Eve speech from Scrooged). I can only attribute this to two factors: 1) the rather unusually chaotic state of my life currently with regard to domicile, nuptial planning, etc. and 2) an increasingly undeniable Facebook addiction.

Therefore, a belated Merry Christmas, happy Solstice, Chanukah, Kwanzaa etc. and happy New Year to all those who didn't hear from me via phone or Facebook since my last posting here, and I hope you had safe, peaceful and joyous times regardless if you don't observe any of those holidays. Also, the usual profuse and sincere apologies to those whose late-December birthdays I missed noting (that would be [livejournal.com profile] smallship1 on the 19th, [livejournal.com profile] pola_bear on the 21st, [livejournal.com profile] darrenzieger on the 23rd, [livejournal.com profile] musicmutt on Christmas Day, and [livejournal.com profile] pagawne and [livejournal.com profile] libgirl on the 29th), and to the almost-certainly tiny minority who were simply disappointed expecting new writing from me in this space.

So...this coming weekend, at least some of you will get to see me fall flat on my warty, wrinkled face have the signal honor of serving as Toastmaster for GAFilk XIII (just my luck to get the 13th slot). I've already learned that [livejournal.com profile] poltr1 and [livejournal.com profile] peteralway will not be gracing us with their presence, more's the pity. Who else is going to be here...or not? Either way, wish me luck—I fully expect to need it in copious quantity.
