She's gone.

Today, at long last, I took my Songbird to the airport, got her bags checked and somehow made sure she didn't have to endure a middle seat on her two plane flights to Amsterdam and Nairobi, stole some time for a quickie late lunch at the Wendy's on the concourse outside the security checkpoint, then kissed her one last time (okay, two or three) and we said our last goodbyes. No, not goodbye—au revoir, for assuredly we will see each other again, in six months at least when I visit her, sooner if she can manage it.

But for now, I am finally alone with her three cats, the piles of stuff she could not take with her and that the movers didn't get (a good deal of which I am to mail her over the next few months, at her expense; the ole Post Awful's gonna be seeing a lot of me!), and less than four weeks to find a new place to live and get all our remaining crap moved out of the old one, get it cleaned properly (and pray they don't soak us too badly for what the cats did to the carpet*) and, somewhere in all of that, make Conterpoint two weeks from this Friday, finish T-shirt art thereof, complete the freelance banner-ad work that I have laid aside for the past two weeks whilst assisting SB in her frantic struggle to get ready for the trip—and...oh, yeah, find myself a damn job.

Pray for me if you believe; think good thoughts if you don't. From here on in, it's all up to me.

*Somehow, it seems poetic justice; the apartment complex's previous management foisted the Berber on us after having promised us hardwood floors, because they didn't want to go to all that hassle/expense for a couple only taking out what was then a six-month lease. Maybe they would have had they but known we'd end up staying here a full four years!
